A study that was commissioned by the Australian Top Gear revealed that the brain of a typical woman does not show significant reactions to men whether they are driving a Ferrari of a beaten-down jalopy that was due for the museum, say 20 years ago?

Based on pop culture and belief, men who drive an attractive and fast vehicle automatically become more attractive to women compared to those pedaling away in bicycles. Also men who are generally attractive (or believe to be attractive) are immune to the type of car they drive. According to Neuro Insight’s Peter Pynta, the one who made the study, you don’t have to worry about driving a jalopy if you’re already attractive.

The study reveals that more average-looking Joes enjoy the benefit of being seen with any type of car. Unfortunately, those who belong in the lower levels of male attractiveness won’t get famous with women even if they’re driving a Ferrari or a BMW. Sorry boys.

Of course, this could be a case to case basis. It’s up to you to judge whether the study is truthful or Neuro Insight is just pulling our legs.

The Nissan Qazana concept car lacks exterior door handles, thus it is often mistaken for a two-door car. It is a four-door car with rear-hinged back doors, which become accessible once the front doors are opened. This door system eradicates the “B-pillar”, making it so much easier to get to the back seats.

Slightly larger than the Nissan Cube, the Qazana is only 159.8 inches long. The most striking exterior features are the two large headlights. Small headlights for daytime use are also attached at the top of the fenders. The interior is composed mainly of exposed plastic and fabric. Nissan said that the contour of the center console comes from the design of motorbike’s fuel tanks.

A large screen dominates the central dashboard that acts as a navigation system display, feeding information about Nissan’s ALL MODE four-wheel drive mechanism along with other technical add-ons mounted on board. The touch-screen interface allows the driver to adjust the air-conditioning system and other settings.

Information is still scarce at present but it is assumed that the Nissan Qazana will see production in 2010. Nissan’s Sunderland plant in England is said to be the one to assemble the Qazana.

According to an interview with Automotive News, Johan de Nyscchen said that the Audi automobile company is “seriously looking” at their plan to bring the Audi A1 to the United States six to eight years from now. He stressed that introducing the car earlier might spoil the car company’s hard work in building pervasive recognition for the brand.

Another interview at the Audi headquarters, de Nysschen said, “People who know us consider us very highly, but not enough people know us yet. I’d like to get that entrenched much more strongly, and it will probably take us another five to six years. That will be the time that you can kind of roll down the market with a smaller car.”

Audi’s American dealers asked for the A1 but somehow became wary when they found out its supposed price tag, de Nysschen revealed. While there have been no announcements yet for the European pricing, Audi A1 will most like cost 20,000 euros—$25,541 at present exchange rates. De Nysschen said that Audi’s American dealers thought it’s impossible to charge that much for such a small car.

Approximately 10 inches shorter compared to the A3, the Audi A1 in Europe is built to contend with BMW’s 1-series and the Mini models, which are both available in the European market.

The new Mazdaspeed 3 t comes with two engine options: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine has 148 horsepower and 135 lb.-feet of torque; and a new 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a borrowed power train from a larger Maza6, with 167 horsepower and 168 lb.-feet of torque. Both the engine has a highly developed electronic throttle actuation. The 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 has a five- and six-speed manual transmission, as well as a five-speed automatic transmission with the Sport-AT manual shift mode as option. This could become as big a hit as the Mazda mx-3, I’m sure!

The 2.0-liter engine has great fuel efficiency with a fuel economy rating of 25 mpg for manual transmission and 24mpg with automatic transmission, both in city driving. For highway driving, it delivers 33mpg with both transmissions. The 2.5-liter engine gives 21mpg with manual transmission and 22mpg for automatic. It delivers 29mpg with both transmissions for highway driving.

For the exterior, the 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 beams with a bigger hood-scoop to allow cool air enter the intercooler mounted at the top. It has round fog lights, side sills, a specialized grille, a taller rear spoiler, and bigger rims that make the performance-based Mazdaspeed 3 stand out from the rest of the base models.

The 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 is expected to arrive at the US this fall with a base price that is close to the current model’s price of $23,410.

The automaker is set to cut 47000 jobs from its global employee base. Five plants in the United States are also scheduled for shutdown by 2012.

GM is also contemplating on ending the Saturn brand when units for its current models are produced by 2012.

The automaker is facing a loan and line of credit amounting to $30 billion based on a report submitted to the US Treasury Department.

GM is requesting for an additional $4.6 billion funding to complete the aid that it received last December 2008. The company also needs $4.5 billion by 2011 to pay for some revolving credit line. An additional $7.5 billion will be needed to help the company as it anticipates worsening sales.

GM executives point to the heavy deterioration of the automotive market. The first restructuring plan foresees a sale of 10.5 million units but in the new plan submitted to the federal government, GM has its downside of sales at 9.5 million units.

Somehow the restructured plan of GM Autos does not fully comply with the conditions set by the agreement with the Bush administration last December. The company firmly believes though that bankruptcy is a very risky and costly process.

President Barack Obama is set to name the car czar of the administration who will champion the move to help the automotive industry and oversee approval of the restructured plans of the car manufacturers.
